Yellow Calendulas 1

I created Yellow Calendula 1 and Yellow Calendula 2 as companion pieces, although they can each stand on their own. I had picked a bouquet of calendulas from the garden in front of my house and I just loved how velvety their petals were and how each flower seemed to enjoy snuggling next to its neighboring bloom. They seemed friendly and comforting.
 
This original one of a kind pastel painting ships mounted on foamcore and wrapped in tracing paper to protect the pastel drawing. It arrives with a pre-cut white mat and self-adhesive spacers to mount on the back of the mat to keep it raised slightly from the painting surface itself, one technique recommended when framing a pastel (instructions are included). The matted painting will fit in a standard 16" x 20" frame to make it easy to frame. (Frame is not provided.)

    The Peace Rose has always been one of my favorite roses. I love the variations in color as the bud opens  from pinks on the outside to the yellows and creams inside as the the buds open. I like to meditate on peace as I enter the image and get lost in its many layers.
